We Want Something More
This band needs no introduction. One of the best, most influential straight-edge bands ever. Why aren't you downloading already?

Ignorance Downfall
Endpoint was the definitive Midwestern hardcore band throughout most of the '90s, leading the charge for progressive, positive, empowering politics with uplifting, cathartic anthem after anthem championing the oppressed and the free-thinking rights of the individual. Their sound evolved from moshable, singalong-inducing hardcore heavily influenced by the coastal straight-edge scenes and skate rock into moving, more mid-tempo heavy indie core of a more intellectual variety.

What It Means To Me, It Never Meant To Them
Mouthpiece was a New Jersey straight edge hardcore punk band from 1991 to 1996. While they had only three records, they had a huge fan base during their time together. Often seen as one of the last bands of the youth crew era, or the earliest revival of it, their popularity was due in part to the relative scarcity of other bands in New Jersey at the time. However, many fans and critics alike credited them as a rare voice of reason in comparison to the aggressive trends in straight edge bands at the time.

End Of The Line
Groundwork was a straight-edge hardcore band from Arizona. Although highly influential, their material is very hard to come by. They have released multiple 7"s as well as a split with Unbroken. This band is easily one of, if not the best hardcore band to ever come out of Tucson. I can't stress enough how terrific this record is. This band helped put Tucson/AZ on the map for hardcore. The following includes their entire discography.

You're Not Free, You Never Were
Chokehold were a vegan straight edge hardcore band hailing from Hamilton, Ontario in Canada. They first formed in 1990, releasing the “More Than Ever” demo tape in 1991.The band was soon renowned as one of the heaviest in hardcore, drawing ire from some purists for incorporating metal riffage into their sound. Their rise in popularity paralleled that of other vegan straight edge bands such as Earth Crisis and hardline bands like Vegan Reich and Raid. While bands that adhered to Hardline were totally opposed to abortion, Chokehold was vehemently pro-choice. Members went on to play in such bands as The Swarm, Brutal Knights, Left For Dead, Haymaker, Our War and Seventy-Eight Days.

Cast Out For What Sets Me Free
Alright Pete Wentz super fangirls, bet you didn't know about this little gem. From Indianapolis, Indiana; Birthright was a hardcore band dedicated to the vegan straight edge philosophy, as well as to fighting sexism, racism, specieism, homophobia and nationalism. Musically less metal-influenced than many of the bands from the genre, Birthright’s sound is more grounded in straight forward hardcore.
This is their second release. "Outcast" and "Strength Through Abstinence" in particular are great tracks.

To The X I Am Crucified
On the subject of fire AND militancy, here we have the discography of one of the most intense agenda having bands of the early nineties. Openly supporting groups like the Animal Liberation Front, Syracuse's Earth Crisis make the argument that veganism is a logical progression of Straight-Edge. Are they right? You be the judge (wah wah waaaah).

The Kids Will Have Their Say
SS Decontrol - The Kids Will Have Their Say
The first Straight-Edge band to really take a militant stance, Boston's SSD (short for Society System Decontrol) took hardcore in general into a more aggressive direction. Make sure you put that cigarette out after you hit it out of your old mans mouth with a baseball bat. You wouldn't want to start a fire or anything... would you? Would you?
